Is Korean Hard?2/13/2021 Most people when asked how they feel about learning Korean, would say they would never be able to learn it because it's just too "hard." But is it really that difficult? Asian languages have a reputation of being very challenging and confusing to learn, so many people, unfortunately, shy away from learning Korean. However, it's best to be the judge of this based on your own personal experience learning it. Prior to learning Korean, I had practiced Japanese for about a year because I wanted to see if Asian languages were as hard as everyone makes them out to be. Since then, I have found that Japanese is a lot harder than Korean. This is mostly because Japanese consists of 3 alphabets, and one has over 20,000 Chinese characters (which makes reading a big challenge). But don't worry, Korean has a much easier alphabet that you can learn within a few hours. When I started learning Korean, I was surprised how easy it was to me, but I was also fortunate to have background in Japanese. This is why I don't think there is a clear answer to "is Korean hard?." It ultimately depends on the person as to how easy or difficult it is.
